Applesauce - extremely versatile, sugar-free apple sauce
This applesauce is a simple, healthy and sugar free marmalade/condiment. Perfect with pancakes, to be used as a substitute for sugar or oil in many recipes for muffins and cakes, to be used as a base for sweet and sour sauces or simply to be eaten (still warm) with a spoon as a healthy and delicious snack.
For 4 Person(s)
- 1.5 kg apples
- 120 ml water
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Applesauce - extremely versatile, sugar-free apple sauce Directions
- Rinse your apples. Divide them into quarters and remove the core part but leave the skin on. Put them in a saucepan along with water and cinnamon.
- Turn on the flame, cover the pan with a lid and bring the mixture to a boil. Uncover and cook on medium heat for 30 to 40 minutes (depending on how much juice your apples have produced) until all the apples are dissolved.
- Turn off the flame, let cool down and blend until smooth in a stand mixer or by using a hand blender. Consume within a few days as it is sugar-free or you can divide this applesauce into containers, freeze it and then use it as needed. If you want to keep it longer transfer boiling hot applesauce to sterile, airtight containers. Close the lid and turn the jars upside down to create the vacuum effect.
lot of love. B.
