Mussels with beer
Mussels cooked with beer are a typical Belgian recipe. The addition of the beer gives depth to the flavors making this a quick, easy and above all very tasty seafood dish.
For 3 Person(s)
- 1 kg cleaned mussels
- 15 g butter
- 1 celery
- 1 small onion
- 125 ml beer (I prefer amber or lager, but any beer will work)
Mussels with beer Directions
- Clean the mussels by removing the beard and fouling, discard mussels with broken shells and rinse well in cold water.
- Clean and slice celery and cut onion into julienne (long thin strips). Cook the vegetables for a few moments in melted butter.
- Add the mussels and cook with lid on for about 3 - 4 min, stirring occasionally. Pour the beer in, stir and continue cooking for another 4 - 5 minutes without the lid. Serve hot with some grilled bread with olive oil, garlic and parsley mix.
Delicious! A little bit bitter. Perfect! - Josh
