Lemons carmelized in brown sugar
Lemons in sugar syrup are a perfect condiment which will add flavor to desserts and drinks, both hot and cold.
For 1 Batch(es)
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 lemon (organic if possible)
Lemons carmelized in brown sugar Directions
- Wash the lemon. Blanch with boiling water and wash it again. Slice thinly and gently remove the seeds.
- Combine water and sugar in a heavy bottom pan. Warm over medium heat and stir occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. Reduce the heat and add the lemon slices. Cook over low heat until the white parts of lemon become translucent. Be careful not to overcook it or the syrup will become bitter and you'll have to start over again.
